Are Trikes the Bikes of the Future? Right from the bicycles that folds to solar-powered e-bikes to walking bikes, the two and three-wheelers have every rider’s needs covered. While trikes have been around for decades, they are currently witnessing an upswing in popularity with giant manufacturers getting into the frame. Though it is quite difficult to make out the reason as to why trikes are becoming a poplar mode of transportation, on probable reason could be that they are much more stable than a two-wheeled motorcycle and much easier for the baby boomers to move around. The addition of a third wheel exemplifies that no more balancing is required, as it supports the weight of the motorcycle at stops or in excessive traffic situations. There has been a major population of older riders who have been riding motorcycle for years but are aware of the fact that their legs are not so strong as they used to be while stopping their motorcycle at the stoplight. Riding a trike is very different from riding a two-wheeled motorcycle, as on a trike all your steering is done through the handlebars, pushing the bar either to the left or to the right. With more and more young generation clinging towards cheap modes of transportation that offer easy commuting and fuel economy, many are switching to motorcycling. And because trikes are a cake walk for the novice riders or those who have never ridden motorcycles; picking up the option of riding a trike is much easier than those who have been using the two wheels for years. Even though cheap trikes for adults have gained a lot of popularity, there is still a contention whether trikes can be slated as actual motorcycles. Overview of the Global Trike Market Traffic issues in urban areas increasing the travel time have pushed the demand for trikes in urban cities. The rising traffic congestion causes a lot of inconvenience to people and such situations are tiresome for the riders. Generation X and baby boomers are the primary end users of trikes. By 2021, the trike market will grow at a CAGR of around 14%. Using trike enables riders to cut down extra time they spend in the car at times of traffic congestion. Trike will ease the process of cornering and this is why trikes are considered as an alternative in a robust passenger car market.
