Step 4:Learn about your course structure Single degrees You have eight years to finish your degree • 3 years full time • 4 to 8 years part time
Step 4: Learn about your course structure The core Arts component An Arts major – 48 points • An Arts minor – 24 points • Another 1st year sequence – 12 points • Additional Arts (at any year level) – 12 points • A total of 144 points for the whole degree

Step 4: Learn about your course structure If you are studying full-time in your first year you will enrol in: 4 units in 1st semester and 4 units in 2nd semester A total of 8 units each year (48 credit points)

Step 5: Choose your units Schools and Centres • Centre for Australian Indigenous Studies (CAIS) • Humanities, Communications and Social Sciences (HUMCASS) • Languages, Cultures and Linguistics • Geography and Environmental Science • Journalism and Australian Studies • English, Communication and Performance Studies • Music – conservatorium • Philosophical, Historical and International Studies • Political and Social Inquiry Please refer to the Areas of Study handout for a list of the disciplines offered by each of these schools and centres

Step 5: Choose your units In each discipline you need to choose: ONE unit in BOTH semesters Don’t just pick units for first semester
Step 5: Choose your units What if I am applying for credit? In many cases your credit has been pre-assessed – based on the information provided to us by VTAC. Your pre-assessed credit will be confirmed after this session, please remain in the lecture theatre.

Step 5: Enrol in your units How do I use the WES? WES is just like internet banking – you complete each step in order before you go on to the next section. • The Arts enrolment website includes WES information – so take a look • https://my.monash.edu.au/wes/

Step 5: Enrol in your units Once you are logged in… • Click on the ‘enrolment/re-enrolment summary’ link • Complete each module in order: • Contact details • Enrolment questionnaire • CSP HECS-HELP application • Unit enrolment (don’t forget to enrol for BOTH semesters)
Step 5: Enrol in your units Enrolment Declaration – your electronic signature By agreeing you are agreeing to use and check your student email account regularly – you should check it on at least a weekly basis
Step 5: Enrol in your units How do you know it has worked? A ‘transaction number’ will appear on your screen every time you make a change or complete a module. Record your transaction number for future reference. You will also receive an email in your student account with the details of what you have done on WES every time you make a change or complete a module.
Step 5: Enrol in your units What if I cannot enrol via the WES? Check Step 5 of the Enrolment Guide at http://www.monash.edu.au/enrolments/first-time/domestic/enrol-units.html and follow the step-by-step instructions. You should start getting comfortable with using the WES as this will be a vital resource throughout your degree.
Step 6: Collect your ID card Friday 29th January is the day to collect your ID card for most Clayton campus students. You can collect your ID card at the Student Services Centre in the Campus Centre (building 10) at the time indicated in your VTAC letter of offer If you need help enrolling in your units, please come to room XXXX on 27, 28 or 29 January and a staff member will be able to help you
