  1. Natural Life in a Temperate Forest Temperate means not to hot or cold. By :Caleb Kistenmacher and Autumn Henkel

  2. Location • The Temperate Forest is located in the eastern United States, in parts of Russia, Europe, Japan, China, and Canada.

  3. Climate • In the winter it becomes well below freezing. • During the summer it becomes 70˚F. • The temperate forest receives more rain than any other environment except the rain forest. • Snow fall is about 30 to 60 inches a year, or 60 to 100 cm. • The temperate forest has four changing seasons, summer, winter, spring, and fall.

  4. Animals • Salamanders use rocks for shelter from the rain. • Squirrels sleep in warm nests or trees to stay dry and cozy.

  5. Plants • The Deciduous tree have long roots to soak up the water in the ground.

  6. Human Influence • Some Americans cleared much of the land for homes. Much of the animals ran out of places for them to live. Acid rain causes the trees to produce less seeds and leaves.

  7. More Information • Non-native animals released by people into the Temperate Forest, may compete for food and hurt the other animals. • Next to the rain forest, the deciduous forest is the next rainiest biome. • Though the year the rays from the sun on different parts of the world, making different seasons.
