PROCESO • 1997 Primera Reunión Santo Domingo • 1999 – Post Exhortación Apostolica Ecclesia in America –mandato original de 1997 cambiado de mejorar las relaciones entre CRS – Selacc a las relaciones PS en las Americas • Abril 2000 – un borrador de la visión y misión. Presentación de obstaculos para coordinar • Marzo 2002 – Bogota – Visión y Misión común • Marzo 2003 – México – Reafirmación de visión y misión común. Acuerdo sobre tres temas principales:Construcción de la Paz, Comercio, Participación Ciudadana • 2004 – 2005 – Dos reuniones de coordinación Selacc – Caritas de Norte América (feb 04, 05). Participación en Semana Social de la USCCB. Trabajo de incidencia sobre los Acuerdos Comerciales

FORTALEZAS DEL PROCESO • Una visión y misión común • Acuerdo de trabajar temas prioritarias • Confianza mutua a través de un proceso de conversión norte – sur – norte. • Clima del dialogo norte – sur desarrollado por trabajo conjunto, participación en PS EE.UU. • Incidencia sobre los temas ha comenzada en el norte con perspecitivas de seguir - comercio

  4. DEBILIDADES DEL PROCESO • Proceso limitado a las dirigencias de las organizaciones. Todavia hay muchos que no entienden el proceso • Documentos fueron trabajados por un grupo relativamente pequeño, hay necesidad de asegurar una discusión de los documentos tanto en el norte como el sur. • Falta de experiencia en dialogo norte – sur • Faltan canales para una comunicación adecuada, necesidad de mejorar la comunicación • Comercio – necesidad de compartir el analisis • La experiencia esta limitado a la red de PS/Caritas y no hay suficiente participación de los obispos • Hay un proceso paralelo de los obispos a través del dialogo Intercontinental.

SUGERENCIAS – PASOS SIGUIENTES • Crear oportunidades para dialogo Norte – Sur sobre los tres temas prioridades (Comercio, Paz, Participación Cuidadana) • Desarrolar una estrategia de comunicación entre Selacc y las Caritas de Norte América • Promover el intercambio de experiencias sobre los tres temas prioritarios • Trabajar para mejorar la comunicación y coordinación con los obispos de las Regiones • Trabajar para el III Encuentro Continental de Pastoral Social o el Foro Continental de PS con Mov. Sociales antes de la Asamblea de CI de 2007

Washington - February 2004 • Consensus - an important part of the Ecclesia in America process • all participants felt acogidos – warmly welcomed in the different meetings not only be the CRS people but by other organizations. • common concerns in the north and south, themes discussed/debated in the different meetings important for north and south • meetings were important to understand true dimension of the Ecclesia in America process, “not limited to a few CRS staff but a process that includes all of CRS, other institutions of the US/North American Church.

  7. PROBLEMS VISIT TO DC • “we are speaking the same language but not the same tongue”. The translation was satisfactory but still was very draining both for listening but also for presenting ideas. • Other meetings. People felt that the meeting with the IJP was important and interesting (that they gave time to the group) but frustrating and limited to the possible visits of Cardinal Rodriguez and the group of Central American bishops which limited time to discuss other concerns such as the debate on trade.
