Have you heard of SPEED DATE? Let’s do this!
Introduce each other in Speed date style (2 mins each ) • Name • Where are you from • Personality • Cool facts about you • What you do : art : subject & medium • Expectation from this class, after school • What you do : non- art • 3 artists you like • 3 galleries or organizations You like • Go!
Individual introduction • Same rule, just you introduce yourself while others be quiet.
Oh I see, you are pretty cool. Can I expect you to • Actively seek what you need to make your work, present your work better • Actively help others, share your knowledge(it’s like a boomerang, it will come back. Really) Can you do these? It’s for you.
My goal for this class • Help you to survive as an Artist • Exploring New Materials for your work
A. How to prepare presentation -1 • Good Photo of your work • Solid Colors rock • Don’t be afraid of Standard Looking-fonts • Make it simpler, not many fonts unless you know well • Not too much bullet points – uh, oh. • Make’em Laugh
A. How to prepare presentation -2 • Your works’ order : by years, by theme, by medium, by series, by projects… • You can read your statement or your writing • Short bio • Don’t speak too fast or slow • Know your audience • Eye contact, smile, confidence…will be awesome • Humor!
What if I don’t have enough art works as an artist? • First of all, be confident. And find something interesting about you, and make a presentation about it. • If you still don’t know what to do, pick one topic that you care and make a presentation about why it matters to you. • Or raise your hand and let’s talk about it, now. • Or talk to me later.
Speaking of presentation, do you think you know well about presenting your work at the show? • Rules for presentation your works at the gallery spaces: http://www.onlineartcenter.com/framing.html
You don’t have to prepare but I am letting you know that we will practice ELEVATOR SPEECH Right after presentation
