Welcome to Student Author Night January 2013
Pre- Writing • Deciding upon a topic (use topic list) • Brainstorming ideas • Using a web or graphic organizer to organize ideas
A graphic organizer is another way to get our thoughts down. Opening Information/Details Information/Details Information/Details Closing
Rough Draft We use our web to write sentences. We spell the “No Excuse” words correctly. For unknown words we sound out the word, underline it and move on.
Editing • We read through our work and check for: • 5 Star Sentences (see chart on board) • Spelling (use the dictionary and the word wall to help correct) • Details • Adding “juicy words”
Good Copy We are now ready to do our good copy. We use our corrected rough draft to complete our good copy. We do our best printing because this is published work.
The following slides are examples of writing from grade 2 students from NB.
