Today's Learning Objectives After today's class: • Students should gain a cursory knowledge of the design process and have the initial experience of working in assigned teams. • Students should be able to design and build a mechanical machine or structure that delivers up to 10 marbles from a tabletop to a receiving target.
Lab Setup The picture below shows the table setup. You will have a K’nex set, and a cup with 10 marbles The above picture shows the testing table, the start line, and the bucket at the end of the table.
Schedule of Events Lab Intro + Questions 5 min Design and Construct 35 min RUN #1 10 min Design Modifications 10 min RUN #2 10 min CLEANUP/Wrap-up 10 min When your team is called you have 1 minute to start the run.
Today’s Assignment At the end of class: • Disassemble the vehicle • Organize the kit • Get checked-out by a TA or Instructor
Helpful Hints • Be aware of the time left in class • There will only be two opportunities to make runs • The first run will conclude after 50 minutes • Your second run will be on a first-come first-served basis
