  1. Welcome Please write something positive your child has said about school. Also, write a goal you have for your child this year.

Curriculum • Integrated/Multi leveled • No more letter of the week; The Daily Five • Hands on Math Manipulatives • Writer’s Workshop/Already Ready • Guided Reading-Our goal is for students to be reading or reading at a higher level by the end of the year. • Pearson Math – website – www.pearsonsuccess.com (later)

  3. Homework • Read to your child • Encourage them to write/draw • Homework will begin in October. • LETTER EXPERT/ will begin this week.

  4. Housekeeping • Change of clothes in backpack • Sweater • Lunch money – send in labeled baggie/envelope with child’s number • Tardy – “8:20 am” Klein ISD allows 3, then conduct grade goes down one grade

  5. Transportation • All Kindergarteners are released at 3:15. Walkers – released at mod door to parents/parents please be on time. 3:15 Car Rides front sidewalk, • 3:15 –Bus riders • If any changes in transportation please send a note and call front office

  6. Conferences • Regular conference times – 9:05-9:50 Every day; however sometimes we are in meetings; can meet after school at 3:30 • Email vholmgreen@kleinisd.net • Phone 832-484-6153 • Junk email

Our Schedule • 8:00-8:15 School Begins 8:20 Tardy • 8:15-8:50 ELA Big group lessons (Calendar etc) • 9:05-10:00 Art/Music/P.E. • 10:00-10:45 Reading groups/Book Boxes or Writer’s Workshop-bathroom before lunch • 10:51-11:26 Lunch • 11:30-11:45 Finish morning work • 11:45-1:00 Math/Science/ Soc. Studies • 1:00-1:30 Recess • 1:30-2:00 Quiet Time “Educational Videos” Pulling kids one on one if needed • 2:00-2:45 Writer’s Workshop/Book Boxes/(Reading Groups or indiv. help)/Workstations/Centers • 2:45-3:05 Get ready to go home • 3:05-3:15 Dismissal • Library – Wed. ????

  8. Volunteer Background check – cannot be a volunteer until background check is cleared – takes a while Sign in at the front office – bring your ID Class readers, parties, teacher helper (Homework folders, cutting, pasting, helps get materials ready for instruction)

  9. Donations • Write on/ Wipe off white boards • Paper Towels • Wipes/Kleenex Paper Plates • Baggies all sizes Paper bags • Germ-X Prizes • Old Socks Stickers • Play-dough Expo Markers!!!!!

  10. Classroom Discipline • Marble jar • Tickets • Behavior Calendar— Purple = Fabulous • Greens – Try harder (clip moved down once) Careful (clip moved down twice) • Blue – 5 min out; Orange – 10 min out, phone call home; Yellow – Behavior Intervention; Red – office referral

  11. Grading Guidelines • E—above grade level and expectations • S- on grade level, doing great • N- needs to improve or develop in areas – more practice at home • U- unacceptable progress

  12. What did you do at school today? Be specific What story did you hear? What game/center did you play today? Were you a leader today? Did you sing any songs today? Did you add a word to the word wall?........
