This lab focuses on determining the applicable power, safety, and EMC standards for products, updating the product and block level requirements, and identifying specific protection devices needed for block designs. The lab also covers the mitigation of hazards such as electrostatic discharges, magnetic field energy, RF electric field energy, interference with other electronic systems, and poor incoming AC power quality. Safety hazards and mitigations for single point device failures, burns, electric shock, fire/explosion, sharp edges/pinch points, and abusive/unknowing users are also addressed.
