Why go to a California Community College? • CA Community College is the largest system of higher education in the nation, with 2.1 million students attending 114 colleges. • Students can complete Lower Division General Education and major prep courses before transferring to 4-year universities, where they complete their Upper Division major requirements • Cost only $46 a unit (CSU: $254/unit, UC: $12,630/year) • Faculty to Student ratios are lower • Distance education opportunities (ie, Online/Hybrid courses)

Why go to a California Community College? • Gives students time to mature and time to explore major/career options • Gives students a fresh start if they didn’t reach their potential in high school • Gives students another shot at getting into their top choice schools if they weren’t admitted right out of high school • High school students can take many CC courses for free, and most units will count toward the Associate and/or Bachelor’s Degree

TAG – Transfer Admission Guarantee • Six UC campuses offer the TAG program (guaranteed admission to ONE of the following UC campuses) for California community college students who meet specific requirements – Davis, Irvine, Merced, Riverside, Santa Barbara and Santa Cruz TAA – Transfer Admission Agreement • Collaborating with Delta College, University of the Pacific guarantees admission for select majors through the TAA. *Each CC offers guaranteed admission programs with various colleges and universities* (ie, LPC and Saint Mary’s College)

Students can take college courses during their high school years. • Some of the courses that they take will count as dual credit (toward hs diploma AND college degree). • Only minimum requirements will be added to mhhs transcripts, but universities you apply to will see ALL high school and college courses completed. • Students must fill out the Non-MHHS Course Request and the Delta College CES Form.
