  1. Fire/Carbon/Dust Workshop Report Fire Emissions Joint Forum Meeting July 11-12, 2006

  2. Fire/Carbon/Dust Workshop Objectives • Review planning- and policy-relevant information about these emissions • Assess modeling and data analysis results • Discuss planning tools and policies from FEJF and DEJF • Additional information on fire and dust emissions’ analysis and management programs by individual states

  3. Fire/Carbon/Dust Workshop Report http://www.wrapair.org/forums/ioc/meetings/060523m/

  4. Fire/Carbon/Dust Workshop Outcomes • In terms of regional haze planning: • Fire impacts on modeling results are large • Fire episodes have a noticeable impact on monitoring data, including clogging sampler operation • Changes in fire emissions are observed in the modeling results when comparing results from multiple model runs; • Dust emissions are not well-handled by the regional air quality model, so dust impacts will not be estimated with model results • Alternative methods to assess the visibility improvements from dust controls will be used
