  10. Key elements in building skills and knowledge Induction Qualifications Good HRM Opportunities: changing work and job roles Organisational culture Professional development Support and mentoring

  11. Being professional • qualifications and an extensive period of education • self-regulation, esp. by a professional body • testing of competence • autonomy/ exercise of professional judgement • status and prestige • professional ethics

  12. The educational qualifications VET qualifications: • TAA to TAE • Diplomas: to new forms and ‘skill sets’ • Vocational Grad Certificates and Diplomas Higher Education: • Associate degrees • Bachelor degrees • Graduate diplomas • Higher degrees

  13. What does good PD look like? • Principle 1 - Taking a holistic approach • Principle 2 - Focusing on measurable outcomes • Principle 3 - Providing flexibility and variety • Principle 4 - Recognising informal learning • Principle 5 - Empowering individual practitioners
