WHAT IS THE FDP? A non-profit organization that: • streamlines administrative burdens associated with sponsored projects through a strong collaborative relationship; and , • improves the productivity of research without compromising its stewardship It is a collaborative effort: • Universities & Research Institutions • Federal Research Agencies • GUIRR

THE GROUND RULES Institutional representatives are expected to: • attend all regular FDP meetings • participate on committees • participate on working groupsand task forces • serve as advocates for their institutional colleagues Expenses for attendance are borne by the institutions
FDP IS ALL ABOUT PARTICIPATION ATTEND THE MEETINGS • There are three FDP meetings per year • The format for these meetings utilizes: • Broad plenary sessions • Break out sessions for working groups, committee & task force meetings • Networking opportunities BE IN THE KNOW Communication is facilitated through • FDP Listservs • FDP website • Announcements at meetings • Dissemination of proceedings
FDP COMMITTEES • Executive Committee • Operational Standing Committees • Membership • Finance • Communications
MEMBERSHIP COMMITTEE Responsible for: • Conducts new attendee activities at meetings; coordinates mentor program • Evaluates/recommends requests for additional affiliate membership • Encourages increased federal participation/membership • Facilitates transition process for new FDP phases • Oversees nomination/election procedures • Supports ERI’s participation • Manages Annual Reporting process
FINANCE COMMITTEE • Reviews annual budgets • Sets financial-related policies and procedures • Monitors the payment of dues
COMMUNICATIONS COMMITTEE • Approves FDP publications (printed or electronic) • Provides direction for the FDP web site • Oversees the FDP Biannual Report • Compiles/disseminates meeting proceedings • Develops/distributes outreach materials

A PROGRAM SPECIFICALLY FOR NEW ATTENDEES - MENTORING Provides a current member as a mentor to new attendees so that they have a smooth transition to active membership and participation: • New attendee breakfast area • New attendee orientation at meetings • FDP website and FAQs • Mentors perform introductions and answer questions both at the meeting and throughout the year.
