  3. Goal and Objective • Recommend the best combination of • Learning strategies and delivery technologies to improve the Entertainment Ed course offering. • Make ballpark estimates for the staff, technical resources, etc. that will be required.

  4. The Problem • Zero enrollment in their “Creating Your Own Web page”, a very popular class.

  5. What Happened? • The course converted from an ILT (instructor led training) to a web-based training.

  6. Why Did This Happen? • In the ILT format, student enrollment exceeded capacity. • Change was initiated to accommodate the learners.

  7. What Design Changes Were Made to The Course? • New technology purchased allowing multi-media delivery to include threaded discussions, chat, e-mail, listserv, quizzing & practice, and video/audio lecture.

  8. So What Is The Problem? • The course was not accommodating the learning style of the learners!

  9. What Are Some Solutions? • Collaborative learning. • Create learning teams. • Create a purpose for the course. • Create interaction into the course. • Create a learning community by the existing learning tools. • Accommodate the learner.

  10. What Is The Cost? • Little additional cost is going to be needed to achieve the changes we have outlined. • Most of the cost will be in the re-design hours and training/support hours for the first few weeks of the new course.

  11. What Is The Cost? (Cont..) • Technical Resource Requirements: • Electronic portfolio (e-portfolio) Server space on university server for storage of documents. • Survey: on-line tool (HTLML) with database to store and compile responses. • Threaded discussions: ability to host and store asynchronous and synchronous communications.

  12. What Is The Cost? (Cont…) • Course Re-Design: 1 Instructional Designer. 30 Design Hours (for re-design only). 10 Support Hours. • Course Facilitation: 3 Instructors. Technical Support Staff for students. 10 Training Hours.
