Meetings • Summary---- • The Twin Cities System Safety Society met three times during the reporting period. Each presentation has been well received with a growth in attendance • Future partnering with the UMSEC critical systems group will provide ability to use internationally recognized speakers – Potential student branch of chapter ? • Fault Tree Probabilities • Presenter: John Fitch –John has a master degree in Math & worked as a safety engineer at ATK for over 30 years • FTA construction & examples of some not so obvious mathematical traps were discussed • Safety Critical Requirements Methodology • Presenter: Jeffery Howard –Safeware Safety Engineer • Application Of Intent Specs &SpecTRM, toolset as well as future tools were discussed • Record high of 17 attendees, with 3 expressing interest in TCSSS membership • Model-based development; Implications for Safety-Analysis • Presenter: Mats Heimdahl –Director of the UM Software Engineering Center • Discussed how UMSEC tools and processes enables a new safety development paradigm • Record high of near 20 attendees
Financial • Limited Expenses • Costs of food & beverages have been covered by donations & ATK • Use of ATK or other no cost facilities • Use of speakers who volunteer to speak – mostly local speakers • Limited Cash • Cash available consists of start up $$ and last years member based $$ • May charge fee for joint meetings with UMSEC Critical Systems ~~ depends on speaker • Future Needs • Future expenses are likely to increase as we try to grow the TCSSS • Charging fees may reduce interest unless there is value returned • Donations not likely to continue
Other Goodies • Awards Selection • ATK Member Anthony Onesi served on the review team • Volunteers • ATK member would like to help set up Certification Process • Growth Opportunities • ATK & TCSSS teaming with UMSEC – Joint Meetings, Speakers, New Contacts • INCOSE –Twin City chapter interested in joint meetings, asked us present papers • Chapter Expansion • Should TC chapter be a Minnesota or 5 state regional chapter ? • New Officer Terms • Two year term for current officers ends summer of 06 ? • Will set up nominating committee this fall or winter • Issue with low number of members who are interested in being an officer
