What is Google Docs? • Google Docs is an application within Google that can be used to share files among chosen members of a group • Documents, Spreadsheets, Presentations, and Forms • Members can be allowed to edit or just share the information
Google Search Engines • Create your own specialized search engine within Google • Tag websites that you choose to be searched • Add them to your web page for student/parent access
Web 2.0 • What is web 2.0? • Web 2.0 is defined as an online application that uses the World Wide Web (www) as a platform and allows for participatory involvement, collaboration, and interactions among users. Web 2.0 is also characterized by the creation and sharing of intellectual and social resources by end users.

Wikis • Most well-known wiki is wiki-pedia • www.wikispaces.com • www.wetpaint.com • www.pbworks.com • http://www.teachersfirst.com/content/wiki/ • All 3 wiki hosting sites offer free, ad-free educational wikis

Social Networking • MySpace • Twitter • Facebook • Whyville.net – virtual world for children, safer for younger children than others listed above (www.eschoolnews.com)
YouTube • Upload your own videos to share with the world • Download videos of interest • Some good, some not so good… • Many good instructional videos out there • TeacherTube is a site dedicated to teachers sharing videos
Chat rooms • Students can share ideas or homework questions with a group through a chat room • A google search found many sites stating they were ‘safe’ for kids…. • Using a moderator and only allowing students in the group or class to enter the chat room
