  4. School Assessment from the Principal Point of View • Needs include: • Repairs and maintenance • Desks • Supplies • Books

  5. Other Needs of Schools • A qualitative assessment was conducted • Respondent identified needs include: • fencing for schools • building maintenance/renovation • science equipment/laboratories • student accommodations (hostels) • library/books • computers

  6. Other Needs Continues • Additional needs include: • toilets • classroom blocks • teachers/staff • staff furniture (chairs and tables) • examination hall • desks

  7. How can we meet this Challenges • Involvement of school principals • Willingness to be involved, even without input • Sending money directly to principals

  8. Additional Comments • Other comments included: • Consultation with school principals • Consultation with Ministry of Education • Community involvement • Rural schools as a priority • Further data collection regarding needs • Involvement of PTAs

  9. Additional Comments • Other comments included: • Development of infrastructure • Needs of female students • Monitoring of projects • Provide for individual school needs • Enrollment fees for poor students • “More grease for your elbows”
