  1. Yr 11 Work Experience 22nd - 26th June 2015

  2. What must I do before I go on my Work Experience?

  3. Carry out some research on your business organisation • What exactly do they do? • Do they have a website? • Be prepared!!

  4. Remind Employers • Make contact with the employer • Remind Employer you will be arriving on Monday 22nd June 2015 • What time do you start on the first day?

  5. How will I get there? • Make travel arrangements to get there each day • Time the travel if a distance is involved • Is a ‘dummy run’ necessary?

  6. Punctuality • Be careful of time keeping!!! • Your placement is only for one week, no one should be late or absent!!! • No appointments should be made during working hours

  7. Lunchtime • Do I need to bring a packed lunch? • Is there a canteen facility available? • Can I leave the workplace at lunchtime?

  8. Appropriate Dress code • Find out what you need to wear • Will the employer supply any clothing that is required? Boots etc. • Employers Schedules should have pointed this out to you

  9. What if I am ill? • Phone your employer immediately and let them know • Explain when you expect to return • Phone school and let us know that you will not be present

  10. LOG BOOK • First three pages must be completed before going out on Work Experience – Section 1. • Let the employer see the ‘student induction checklist’ on the first day of the placement – this should be completed with the employer – Section 2. • Record of Activities – you should identify four typical activities in any one day – Section 2. • Employer’s Assessment Form - The employer can fill the form in while you are there or remove from the LOG BOOK and return to the school – Section 3. • LOG BOOK must be brought to placement and filled in each day – bring completed log books back to school..

  11. Health & Safety You will receive a Health & Safety Booklet today – you should read through this thoroughly prior to going out on placement. You must provide the Student Induction Checklist (pg8 in log book) on the 1st morning of Work Experience. Signatures required!

  12. Work Experience Visits • Staff that are free and willing to participate will either visit you or make a phone call. • Any major problems, you must contact the school. Do not remain silent in an environment you are not comfortable with.

  13. Work Experience Report This will be completed on your return to school in September, therefore log Book and employers feedback is vital.
