Order Hemiptera • Earlier editions of ‘100 Common Insects of New Mexico’ showed two Orders---Hemiptera AND Homoptera • More recent studies of these Orders strongly suggests the two are even more closely related • The ‘new Hemiptera’ now includes all of the ‘former Homoptera’. All have simple metamorphosis and sucking mouthparts.
