Conclusions • For a few principles we have no results • Websites are in the phase of on-line publication and we don’t have any information regarding website development • Greek websites partially meet quality principles because they: • Aim to present the cultural organization that holds and maintains them • Intend to attract visitors to museums and not to present a large set of their collection holdings • Their creation and implementation was an internal project and the funds were usually inadequate
Current situation • First large scale attempt: • Operational programme “Information Society”, Invitation 65 • 146 digitization projects • 6 studies about main issues of digitization, f.e. • Good practices in digitization • Quality framework for the design and development of web sites of Cultural entities: Study and consultation • Digitization of 3D objects • IPR • Studies are almost completed. • The implementation of the rest of the projects must comply with the results of studies
Example of current situation • “Virtual Tour to Monuments of Aitoloakarnania and Achaia” • This project aims to collect, digitize and exploit the cultural material that concerns pre-Christian monuments of prefectures Aitoloakarnania and Achaia in Region of Western Greece • It is in the phase of Metadata Capture and meets the quality principles • For example: • International metadata (DC, DIG 35) • Digital watermarking • Supporting information is reviewed by experts
