Taj Mahal The Epitome Of Love As quoted by Rabindranath Tagore, “The Taj Mahal rises above the banks of the river like a solitary tear suspended on the cheek of time.” I am sure many agree with the words said in the praise of the marble-clad mausoleum. The Construction Details Of Taj Mahal Construction began around 1632 and the chief architect was Ustad Ahmad Lahore. Made up of white marble it was embedded with semi-precious stones in a technique which is known as pietra dura. The monument's central dome, which is 73 meters in height, is surrounded by four smaller domes. The arched entrance of the mausoleum was inscribed with verses from the Quran in calligraphy. The monument's interior comprises an octagonal marble chamber, which was bedecked with semi-precious stones as it houses a false tomb, of Mumtaz Mahal. Taj Mahal complex main gateway was made up of red sandstone to complete the look. Interesting Facts On Taj Mahal 1.
