When and where the competition was held? The Netherlands and Spain met in the 2010 FIFA World Cup Final on Sunday 11 July 2010 in Johannesburg.
Who were the finalists • 1st - Spain2nd - Netherlands3rd - Germany4th - Uruguay5th, 6th, 7th, 8th - Ghana, Brazil, Argentina, Paraguay 9th, 10th, 11th, 12th, 13th, 14th, 15th, 16th - Korea Republic, United States, Slovakia, Chile, Mexico, England, Japan, Portugal
The team that won and the score • Event 2010 FIFA World Cup • Netherlands • Spain • 1
What was the scoring sequence for Spain • Early on in the game, Spain showed that it was going to control and therefore, they would dictate the tempo of the game.Spain had plenty of chances too. Those chances mainly came from David Villa, Xavi and Ramos. Spain’s midfielder Iniesta (#6) was diving and flopping everywhere.
Spain scoring sequence • Later on, Iniesta scored the game winner in the 2nd extra period at the 116th minute. Netherlands played a man down (10 players vs Spain’s 11)
The scoring sequence for Netherland • For the Netherland, striker Robben (#11) had the best chances on goal. On one occasion, while catching the Spanish team asleep, Robben had a clear shot on goal. His kick was too late and it went off the Spanish’s goalie legs.
Who scored Spain scores in extra time to win the world cup finals 1-0. Andres Iniesta scores in the 115' to win the championship for the third time. Spain wins the world cup finals. Great goal by Andres Iniesta. Spain beat the Dutch.
What could the defense have done to more effectively try and stop the goal being scored? • The Holland team didn’t have any defenders to help the goalie so the should’ve have gotten at least 2 people to keep defending the goal from any scores.
Was there any movement ‘off the ball’ by other attackers on the Netherlands team to draw defenders of spain away from the goal scorer? If yes what happened and what was the effect of this? • Yes there was movement of the ball because when the Netherland team wanted to pass the ball to another player the Spain team worked faster and took the ball away, and the Spain defenders and attackers were passing the ball really quickly, the sequence that the Spain team did effect them because it helped them score a goal.
Choose 1 of the goals and describe using Football terminology the sequence of play leading up to the goal. • The goal that I am going to choose is the final goal and that was the only goal in the Spain vs. Holland match in the Fifa world cup, the way Spain scored the goal is: Robben from the Netherland team was playing as a winger or wide midfielder is a midfielder located on the wing of the midfield. But another player of his team didn’t catch it so Cesc Fàbregas and he is the Midfielder in the Spain team passed to Andrés Iniesta, which is playing as a midfielder and a winger, and then he shot the ball in the net.
Using the same scoring sequence what individual skills the attacking team has used? • In the Spain team, all the players new their position, and they were tackling with the ball, they didn’t run after the ball. All the players spread out in the field, the Holland team were also playing very well they were tackling, and they were really fast runners, they were all communicating together to try and score a goal.
