Problems Encountered I have written articles in The Analog asking for membership feedback on their participation in K-12 activities. I have not been successful in getting feedback. I am going to take a more active role in obtaining this information starting with our section leaders.
What have I learned? There are many activities and programs to encourage K-12 STEM education. Many of these programs are adequately funded. Most of the adult participants are educators. We are not a profit making organization. We are a people organization. These organizations need engineering and science mentors and volunteers. The best way for us to help is to volunteer.
Plans My Plan for this year is To work with Discover Engineering to build their database of volunteers. To continue participating with Future City as a judge. And to attend a few of the many STEM events to look for opportunities where our membership can serve.
