State Initiatives • The State Government made provision of MDM to students of Class IX and X with 100% State contribution. • The State Government has provisioned an additional cooking cost of Rs.2/- per day per child to provide three eggs a week to each child in MDM with an amount of Rs. 103.00 Crores thus adding protein content to the meal. • From 01.01.2015, the State Government is supplying Super Fine variety of Rice. • Material pertaining to Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) in the form of books and calendars have been printed and supplied to all the schools in the state for effective implementation of MDM. RASHTRIYA BAL SWASTHYA KARYAKRAM (RBSK) Telangana has developed an app of RBSK, Telangana. Telangana have supplied tablet PCs to all the teams of RBSK for uploading the data on the same day of visit to the schools about the screening of students. The RBSK team is consisting of i) Male Doctor, ii) Female Doctor, iii) ANM and iv) Pharmacist The team visit the schools daily and make health check-ups for 120 students in each day. The teams record height, weight and health record of the students and upload the data through the tablet PC provided to them.
RBSK (Contd…) • Cases which need further health care are referred to the District Early Intervention Center and also referral hospitals. • Every monday the ANMs is giving iron, folic acid supplements and calcium supplements to the students identified with the anaemia. • The RBSK teams are organizing health awareness classes to the parents, teachers, students and Cook-cum-Helpers in the schools. • The details of district wise screened are available in rbsk.telangana.gov.in portal. Using of Millets : • The District Collector, Hyderabad has identified the anemic girls students during 2018-19 by health check-ups conducted by RBSK teams and found most of the girls students are having less than 8% haemoglobin percentage. • To increase the haemoglobin percentage, iron and vitamins in the girls students to address anemic problem and also to provide additional nutritious values. • It is observed by the RBSK team in the girls students who have taken Ragi laddu which consists 60% of raagi and 40% jaggery and 5ml of pure ghee with weight of 40 gms for 3 months and found that the HB percentage has been increased in those students. Kitchen Gardens • At present there are 1328 Kitchen gardens in the school developed with the self initiation of teachers, students and SMC . • The students are also participating in formation and developing of kitchen gardens. • In general Tomato, brinjal, bottle guard, ridge guard, drum sticks, coriander, palak etc are grown and used in MDM. Requirement of funds per school: • Seeds – Rs. 1000/- • Natural manure - Rs. 1000/- • Equipment - Rs. 1500/- • Other Expenditure - Rs. 1500/- • Total - Rs. 5000/- TELANGANA-PAB, 2019-20

Hand Wash Facility In most of the schools battery of taps arranged for hand wash. In Warangal district the District Collector has taken initiation and provided battery of taps in all the schools of Warangal town.
Schools sanitation, health & hygiene: The Uddeepana initiative is piloted in Nalgonda and Yadadri Bhongiri districts in Telangana state. The initiative is being implemented in more than 100 Government schools spread across six mandals of Nakrekal Assembly Constituency i.e. Nakrekal, kethepally, Narketpally, Kattangoor, Chityal and Rammannapet duly involving the community and elected representatives of the local area . One of the goals of the Uddeepana is school sanitation, health & hygiene. Objective -1: Sanitation products supplied to all schools through SHG members for better maintenance of water and sanitation facilities. Objective -2: All Uddeepana schools utilize the concept of Hygienic behaviour and bring changes in hygiene behaviour among children, teachers and community members through Swachh Doot campaign. Objective -3 Thecook cum helpers use Apron, Head gear, Gloves and Masks and maintain Hygiene in preparation, supply and serving of Mid-day meals in Government schools.

Details of the contingency plan to avoid any untoward incident: painting of important phone numbers (e.g. Primary Health Centre, Hospital, Fire Brigade etc) on the walls of school building 108 emergency services (Mobile medical vans) are being utilized in case of any untoward incident in Mid Day Meal Scheme and they are connected to the Local Hospitals/ Public Health Centers emergency. The contact numbers of Local Medical Officer, Health Center/Hospital, Police, Tahasildar and Mandal Education Officer are made available to schools. emergency help.
