Proposal for Cook-cum-helper engaged in MDM Scheme The required number of Cook-Cum-Helper has been calculated @ 10 per thousand students enrolled and one additional Cook-Cum-Helper for each school. Ministry of HRD, Govt. of India
ISSUES • State Government has not engaged cook-cum-helpers as per PAB approval. • No SSMC meeting held during the year. • Low coverage of children (65%-70%) vis-à-vis enrolment. • The available stock of foodgrain at the godown of centralized kitchen was not FAQ standard. • It was noted that the foodgrain lifted from FCI did not reach the MDM Kitchen. • Quality of meal served was poor in most of the schools and centralized kitchens. • The centralized kitchens are serving MDM to schools which are located as far as 20-22 KM. Ministry of HRD, Govt. of India
ISSUES • Huge wastage of meal was found in Central Delhi, North Delhi, and West Delhi Centralized Kitchens as several schools refused to accept poor quality of meal provided by the Kitchens. • Poor record maintenance. No information was available about cooking cost or details about the lifting of food grains from FCI. • In New Delhi District the quantity of meal served in the schools is inadequate in primary classes. MDM is served in small tiffin boxes to children, which they bring from their home, as a result a small portion is served to them. Ministry of HRD, Govt. of India
