There are about 2600 garment factories in Bangladesh. • The Ready-Made Garment Sector in Bangladesh currently employs 1.2 million workers. 90% of them are women workers. • It accounts for 76% of the total exports of Bangladesh. • The workers monthly income varies between 1400TK – 2000TK, they live in slums in unhygienic condition and inhuman life. • The workers living in slums are always facing many problems such as – Utility problem, Health and Nutrition Problem etc. They also have to face many social problems. • The present study is aimed to identify the problems and prospects related to the living conditions of the garment workers and provide a policy guideline for solving these problems through participatory planning.
Objectives of the study • To investigate the existing living condition of the garment workers through participatory planning. • To examine the problems and potentials of the study area. • To formulate a policy guideline to improve the living conditions of the garment workers of the selected area.
