  1. Liaison Report on ISO/TC215 Hidenori Shinoda 6/29/2007 Berlin

Last ISO/TC215 Plenary Meeting • The last plenary meeting of ISO/TC215 was held between March 25th and 29th in Montreal, Canada . • Charles Parisot reported on the status of the document on “IHE Global Standard Adoption” at a meeting of WG2. • The document was numbered with ISO28380. • The document consists of three parts: • ISO 28380-1 Part 1: Process • ISO 28380-2 Part 2: Use Cases and Integration Profiles • ISO 28380-3 Part 3: Conformance Testing for Interoperability • We reviewed a drafted document of Part 1.

Last ISO/TC215 Plenary Meeting- to be continued • ISO 28380-1“IHE Global Standards Adoption – Part 1: Process • They resolved the document would be posted to the ISO/TC web site by April 17th for a TR ballot.. • Nick Brown reported on the status of the new work item of “Web Access to Resource Manifest (WARM)”. • The new work item proposal for this was circulated for a ballot. The deadline was May 22nd. • He said it was hard to get five experts. (ISO rule requires at least five experts to establish a work item.)

  4. Last ISO/TC215 Plenary Meeting- to be continued • ISO/NWIP #10159 Messages and Communication - Web Access Resource Manifest. • The proposal was approved. (There were 15 votes. Seven countries approved and eight voted to abstention.) • 5 experts would participate to the work from Canada, Germany, Netherlands, UK, and US.

  5. Last ISO/TC215 Plenary Meeting- to be continued • Other Topic • They talked about Joint Initiative on SDO Global Health Informatics Standardization. Currently, representatives from ISO/TC215, CEN/TC251, and HL7 participated to the meeting. • Purpose of Joint Initiative • The Joint Initiative on SDO Global Health Informatics Standardization is formed to enable common, timely health informatics standards by addressing and resolving issues of gaps, overlaps, and counter-productive standardization efforts through: • An agreed upon and used decision process for international standardization needs. • Coordinated standards strategies and plans. • An integrated work program • Focused, specific resolution of overlapping or counteracting standards within existing work programs.

Last ISO/TC215 Plenary Meeting- to be continued • Joint Initiative on SDO Global Health Informatics Standardization • Next Steps • Continue initial harmonization work (2 items of standards resolution) • In ISO TC215:One month ballot of Charter –April 30 to May 30 • CEN TC251 and HL7:Using own processes for Charter agreement • Joint Initiative Council members identified –June 15 • Joint Working Group members identified (subject to agreement) –July 1 • Second Meeting of Joint Initiative Council –August Brisbane • First Meeting of Working Group –August, Brisbane

  7. Future Meetings • The ISO/TC215 joint working groups meeting will be held on August 25 through 27 in Brisbane, Australia. • ISO/TC215 WG2 will have a meeting on January 18th and 19th in San Antonio, Texas. This is currently tentative. • The next ISO/TC215 Plenary Meeting will be held on May 29th through June 1st in Goteborg, Sweden.
