  3. 802.11af Status before November Meeting • Comment resolution going on… • Group had telcos on Oct 4th, 11th, 18th,25th and Nov. 1st . • Created the LB171 comment spreadsheet in 11-11/277r20. • Created speculative draft D1.04. • Some of the issues being discussed are general spectrum mask representation, extended channel switch with power change, secure enablement and CVS without persistent association, white space map, and interference management. • 18 CIDs on PHY and channelization and 69 MAC comments are without proposed resolutions. • Plan for November meeting: • Complete comment resolution. • Review regulatory landscape. • Begin the process of incorporating the TGac PHY. Current 802.11af Status • Approved comment spreadsheet (277r20) and speculative draft 1.04 as working draft. • Comments resolution approved mainly dealing with following MAC issues: • Channel Power Management • RLQP • Network Channel Control Identifier • WSM • CVS • DSE link identifier element • Device location format • Operating Channel Status • DSE measurement report • CAQ • DSE and enabling • MAC terminology Prabodh Varshney, Nokia

Current 802.11af Status • Discussion in 802.11 mid plenary about which PHY 802.11af should use: 802.11ac or some other. • The 802.11 WG indicated that TGaf would have to wait for TGac to finish their work before it could be adapted by TGaf. • Options: • TGac adaptation, per initial proposal from Ron and Vinko • Return to original direction • New approach to use of TGn with a single bandwidth (no coexistence issues) Prabodh Varshney, Nokia

Current 802.11af Status • Document 1544r0 proposes initial PHY details for TGaf based on TGac with possible enhancements based on TGah: • Envision direct down clocking of 11ac PHY with minimum modifications to accommodate the specific requirements of TGaf. • Proposed BWs: 2 MHz (optional), 4 MHz, 8 MHz. • Group agreed that now the starting point is to use the High throughput PHY with scaling and modifications for the TV bands. • Total number of comments still needs to be resolved 220 (about 160 PHY comments). • Weekly on Tuesdays.
