Community learning initiative which adopts a systemic and multi-targeted approach, engaging families, peer groups, the community, the schools and university. The CRC helps facilitate and develop inter-generational involvement for life wide learning.

Collaborate with stakeholders including parents, NGOs and service providers at community level while remaining committed to dialogue and cross agency cooperation
Learner centred approach is necessary to stimulate participation in adult learning • Learner centered – • Choose topics which interest the communities • Adopt a pedagogical style based on informed dialogue, • Lecturers are asked to move from the known into the unknown • While some courses are based on demand/suggestions, others emerge from skills gaps which emerge from research
Other objectives • Create activities that bring the different communities in the Cottonera area together to help them build bridges socially and educationally • Highlight the tangible and intangible heritage found in the area to promote leadership, self awareness and active citizenship • Provide outreach in the community by setting up diverse sites for learning and providing opportunities for developing socially culturally sensitive academic, research and teaching projects • Develop service providers’ socio-cultural competence, promote awareness of diversity
