  4. * What is it? * How will I as a Brother benefit from it? * How will we as a District/Region benefit from it?

  5. * What’s in it for me? * Why should I care? * What difference will it make--- really?

  6. “The achievement of a personal vocation is • the life-long task of every individual through fidelity to the continual guidance of the Holy Spirit”. • The Declaration - Chapter 4, Art 15.2

  7. Each Brother takes upon himself the responsibility for integrating within his own person these constitutive elements of his vocation: * Consecration to God as a lay religious * Apostolic ministry of education, especially of the poor * Community life * The Rule, Art 10

  8. Called to be Brothers FORMAT * Takes place mostly within local communities or cities and areas in which Brothers live * Emphasizes community and the interior life, as encouraged by the 44th General Chapter * Encourages Districts to attend to their individual formation needs within a broad thematic framework “…our personal commitment to God is done in the midst of the community, in such a way that our commitment to God is influenced by Brothers with whom we also commit ourselves and to whom we also consecrate ourselves.”

Called to be Brothers FORMAT * Reduces cost by taking place primarily within communities and allowing for Districts to replace certain regularly funded events, e.g. District retreats, with CTBB activities * Promotes a collective Regional dialogue among Brothers * Encourages personal reflection as well as community, District and Regional interaction * Allows for the appropriate involvement of Partners * Sets the stage for surfacing issues at the 2012 Regional Assembly and atthe General Chapter in 2014

  11. CTBB: Year Two In the Spirit of Faith and Zeal * Advent 2011: Touching Hearts * Lent 2012: Witnessing Communion * Summer 2012 Regional Assembly: What is God Asking of Us Today?

Called To Be BROTHERS Program outcomes animated by the founding inspiration of our Institute That Each Brother in the Region: * Experiences a greater understanding of the essential contributions his lifemakes through ministry, community and a life of prayer to the educational mission of the Institute and the Church * Experiences a clearer understanding of and appreciation for how his life witnesses to the power of shared brotherhood and communion * Experiences in new ways the action of the Holy Spirit in the reality of shared mission with others who are inspired by the life and dream of John Baptist de La Salle

Called to Be Brothers * Challenges us to hear God’s call today * Returns us to our founding story as expressed in a spirit of faith, zeal and consecration to the Blessed Trinity * Moves us from personal to collective experience, from each Brother’s vocation to our collective identity as District and Region * Proceeds from the inspiration of the 44th General Chapter’s emphasis on interior prayer and community life * Creates a context for the revitalization and enhancement of community life within each District and throughout the Region
