  3. Professional Learning Community structure for professional learning: • Discussed as Iowa Core leadership modules were shared with districts • Discussed as IC leadership teams were doing alignment work • Continues to be the recommended method of learning for educators

  4. PLC Background • Many schools have sent leadership teams to Solution Tree (DuFour model) institutes for PLC training / implementation information

  5. PLC Background • Keystone AEA hosted a PLC One-Day Institute featuring Ken Williams, Solution Tree consultant, to provide an overview for educators not able to attend a Solution Tree institute

  6. PLC Background • Keystone AEA hosting a 2-day PLC institute for Administrators with a focus on how to implement and support professional learning communities

  7. Professional Learning Networks • Building- or district-based professional learning communities serve the majority of teachers effectively. • However, there is a need for plc opportunities for “singletons” in districts.

  8. Professional Learning Networks • Singletons: • Art • Physical education • Music • Teacher librarians • Single-section teachers in a building

  9. Professional Learning Networks • Teachers appreciate the opportunity to collaborate with other teachers. • However, they would love to collaborate with others who walk in their shoes on a daily basis.

  10. PLN’s: Questions to Consider • 1. How could Keystone AEA assist in the organization of PLN’s? • (PLC’s that transcend buildings / districts.) • 2. How could membership in PLC’s be communicated to interested teachers throughout Keystone?

  11. PLN’s: More Questions to Consider 3. Since the PLN’s would be across buildings / districts, how might the PLN’s be: • Facilitated? • Monitored?

  12. PLN’s: More Questions to Consider • Meeting “space” for PLN’s: • 4. What media might be used to support the PLN meetings? • 5. Should PLN’s have opportunity for face-to-face exchanges? How might that happen?

  13. Thanks! For feedback about possible assistance with PLN structure throughout the agency!

  14. Remote Meeting Feedback • Pro’s: about Keystone Advisory meeting via adobeconnect / phone conference call. • Con’s: about Keystone Advisory meeting via adobeconnect / phone conference call.
