Hills are also formed by deep erosion of areas that were raised by disturbances in the earth’s crust. Canyons are deep gorges or holes, with cliff sides. Mostly found in dry areas when they deepen and weathering widens the sides of the canyon. Erosion is the process that formed canyons on Earth. The Grand Canyon is the largest canyon in the U.S.
