Wilson campaigned under the slogan He Kept Us Out Of War
Wilson was elected and hoped that all nations would join a league for peace which would work to extend democracy, maintain freedom of the seas and reduce armaments
10. The United States Declares War Germans ignored Wilsons call for peace and threatened to sink all ships entering British waters
Zimmerman Note-telegram from the German foreign minister to the German ambassador in Mexico that was intercepted by British agents
