Creative Development Enjoying the process of finding and solving problems: In the block area, Elan is frequently the leader of the ramp building. He builds a ramp, test runs it, and keeps working on it until he makes the ramp work. He is constantly problem solving.
Creative Development Using his imagination: Elan uses his imagination during free play. He creates objects such as “TIV’s” cars and spaceships. Above is a spaceship Elan built! Here is a TIV Elan built, he was busy playing inside with some of his classmates Three-dimensional sculpture:Elan uses unit blocks and large hollow blocks to create 3D structures on a daily basis.
Creative Development Engaging With Sensory Materials:Elan engages in sensory materials such as the soil table, feeling the seed texture.
Cognitive and Language Development • Enjoyment of and familiarity with books: Elan enjoys reading books, he is aware of how to hold a book and remains focused on it while the teacher is reading. Recites number words (Rote and Rational counting): Elan easily counts up to 100 and is able to point and count individual objects accurately.
Cognitive and Language Development Symbolic Representation: During the game “Sleeping Children,”Elan uses his body to represent the animal he is thinking of: here he’s a tiger! • Utilization: After experimenting with ramp building during activity time, he brought the knowledge he gained to our small group and helped the group expand what they were working on.
Physical Development Receptive Skills: Elan has well developed receptive skills. Elanis highly skilled in playing soccer, he is able to kick, trap and receive a ball kicked to him. Static Balance: Elan is able to remain in one spot and stretch, bend and twist.
Physical Development Elanthoughtfully making a list of what he sees in the Purple Onion on our field trip. Facility with drawing and writing tools and scissors: Elan skillfully uses drawing and writing tools to make intentional marks. He is able to hold writing tools with a mature tripod grasp and use scissors to cut.
Physical Development Self-Help Skills: Elan performs all of his self help skills independently. He is able to use a spoon to grab cranberries and transfer them to his napkin, he is also able to zip up his coat with out a teacher’s help.
Social and Emotional Development Interactions with peers: Elan initiates’ interactions with other children in the classroom. he will join in the play or ask another child if they want to play with him. Level of self-control: Elan can wait for a turn, Elan will wait patiently in line for his turn during gym activities.
Social and Emotional Development Enjoyment of teacher-facilitated activities: Elan seems to enjoy and is comfortable during teacher-facilitated activities, like making muffins and picking seeds for the garden, Elan remains focused on the teacher.
Social and Emotional Development Self-confidence: Elan is intrinsically motivated and enthusiastic when he accomplishes something. He solved the problem of making the marble go down both ramps without falling off. When he accomplishes challenges heshows excitement.
