Goals for 2022 • To have a legalized Society of Island Biology (SIB) • To have statutes approved, where board and presidencyrenovation procedures are regulated • To ensure the regular celebration of conferences and meetings and support the local organizers. • To reach a membership of 400 persons • To have an active webpage and periodic newsletters • To progress towards an open SIB scientific journal • To lobby introducing SIB to IPBES, UNESCO, GLISPA (Global Islands Partnership), IUCN, etc. for being consulted in decisions affecting island biodiversity and conservation worldwide • To propose a budget, considering possible income sources that enable contracting a secretary for dealing with bureaucratic issues. • To provide practical guidelines for making our meetings more sustainable (reducing environmental impact) and accessible (inclusive).
Working procedure • Our aim is to consult openly as much as possible with the SIB members in the achievement of these goals. • Members of the SIB will have the opportunity to suggest initiatives to the board • The board will appoint specific SIB members for specific tasks
