EUREKA Classic vs. Eurostars Since Eurostars introduction, the number of Individual projects is stable between 150 and 200 projects per year. The number of EUREKA projects (including both traditional & Eurostars) endorsed per year reached 350 in 2010, Which represents the double of the trend up to the start of Eurostars (2008)

Danish EUREKA Impact analyses, Assessement of impact on EUREKA participants 76 Danish firms which have participated in EUREKA projects between 1985 and 2000 • Control group 1: 756 firms which haven’t participated in consortia type project but are similar to EUREKA participants • Controle group 2: 79 firms which have participated in national and international consortia type programmes.
Four effects for EUREKA participants • Participation of Export increases 13 pct. points compared to the two control groups. • Participation double turnover compared to firms not participating in consortia projects. • Participation increses employment with 4-5 pct. points from year one comparet to both control groups. • Participation increases productivity with 11-12 pct. points annually.
What is Eurostars about? It is a European innovation programme co-funded by EU and 33 European countries. The programme is administrated by the EUREKA secretariat and the national EUREKA administration It provides funding to market-oriented R&D projects The main target group is R&D-performing SME’s. Only such SME’s can apply - but large companies and knowledge institutions can participate in the projects
The unity of the Eurostars programme • Eurostars is a common European SME oriented programme • Eurostars applications are evaluated by one common international evaluation panel • Eurostars applications projects are rated on one common rating list • All member states have to follow the common rating list when funding national project partners
