MEDIA COVERAGE OF THE 16 DAYS CAMPAIGN • In all the stories monitored news associated to 16 days campaign made up only 14% • Stories relating to women, child abuse and other gender based violence accounted for only 29% • HIV/AIDS only made most headlines on the 1st December, I guess since it was World Aids Day
SOURCING IN GBV STORIES DURING THE 16 DAYS CAMPAIGN • There were more male sources (63%) than female sources (37%) in all items monitored • No female sources mentioned in stories relating to child and women abuse
SOURCING IN GBV STORIES DURING THE 16 DAYS CAMPAIGN • Most sources were government officials and politicians • Sources from activists and other groups against children and women abuse accounted for 21% only
