RDCAP Funding Available $34.6125 million in past commitments extended $9.1 million in commitments returned/relinquished $12.9 million in standing commitments still under review by sponsoring agency $12.6125 million in commitments accepted (Philips and GE) $12.3875 million in actual funds remaining with a $24.775 million commitment ceiling $12.9 million in commitments still active & under review Today’s commitment recommendations are $8.13 million

Human Performance Consortium R&D Center Applicant: Wright State University Collaborators: ATIC, Applied Research Assoc., daytaOhio, Kettering Health, Lion Apparel, Radiance Technologies, SAIC, SelectTech Services Prime sponsor: AFRL Expected Air Force award: $30 - $50 million RDCAP requested: 15% not to exceed $5 million OTF alignment: Biomedical and I/C/E Purpose of center: Serve the R&D and education/training needs of the Air Force’s 711th Human Performance Wing Uses of funds: TBD buildings, structures, & equipment to support the center’s purpose Note: AFRL RFP not yet issued

Kraton Polymer Innovation Center (KPIC) in Belpre, Ohio Applicant: Kraton Polymers U.S., LLC & University of Akron Collaborators: University of Akron Prime sponsor: Kraton Polymers U.S., LLC Expected Kraton award: $20.87 million RDCAP requested: $3.13 million OTF alignment: Advanced materials Purpose of center: Development, processing, and characterization of batches of polymer materials and scale up that will assist Kraton in new product development applications and assist UA in further development of emerging polymer materials Uses of funds: Vessels, pumps, condensers, accumulators, polymer screeners, control systems and instrumentation that UA will own and be located at Kraton

RDCAP Commitment Recommendations RDCAP commitment of $3.13 million to be used by the University of Akron contingent on Kraton establishing the $20.87 million KPIC in Belpre, Ohio RDCAP commitment of 15% of an AFRL award, not to exceed $5 million, to the HPC R&D Center to support one or more human effectiveness centers Contingent on: AFRL RFP issued by 10/31/10 under BAA-PKD-08-0006 AFRL RFP requires or has evaluation criteria for applicant cost share WSU requests $30 to $50 million & receives minimum of $5 million from AFRL RDCAP match only used for AFRL funded work aligning with OTF technical areas and its research development/commercialization
