  3. First the design is drawn onto the linoleum, then carved out

  4. Next the ink is rolled onto The linoleum with an ink brayer

  5. Finally the image is transferred onto the paper. A print is an image that can be done over an over, and in different colors

  6. The artist carves away what won’t print and leaves the subject raised up. Can you see how the rocking chair is still raised and it has the black ink on it. The background was carved away, and doesn’t show up on the white paper when printed. The image always prints in reverse…

  7. Here are a few examples of landscape prints done on linoleum. Notice the amazing amount of details and textures in these prints.

  8. Can you see the movement in some of these prints?

  9. These linoleum prints were created in color. They Had to be carved out then printed one color at a time, starting with the light colors first.
