TYPICAL TIMELINE • Fall Academic Year 1 – Self Study Institute • Spring Academic Year 1 – MSCHE Liaison Self-Study Preparation Visit • Winter Academic Year 2 – Select Team Chair • Fall Academic Year 2 – Complete Team Roster • Fall Academic Year 2 – Chair’s Preliminary Visit • Spring Academic Year 3 – Evaluation Team Visit

  4. CHAIR’S PRELIMINARY VISIT • Purpose is to ensure that the team visit will be productive • Discuss campus readiness, self-study design & report, team roster, work room & accommodations, document room, schedule of interviews, oral exit report • “Dress rehearsal” for the team visit

  5. GETTING READY FOR THE TEAM VISIT • Send all self-study materials to each team member (at least 6 weeks before visit) • Send information about travel, hotel, campus map (at least 2 weeks before visit) • Remember that each team member is a colleague and a volunteer!

  6. TYPICAL TEAM SCHEDULE • SUNDAY: Arrival, team meeting, host's reception, evening work session • MONDAY & TUESDAY: Interviews & documents, lunch on campus, team dinner, evening work session • WEDNESDAY: Oral exit report & departure

  7. THE TEAM REPORT • Is the institution in compliance with all 14 Standards? • Suggestions – collegial advice • Recommendations – improvement advised to remain in compliance; institution must report on these in next PRR • Requirements – institution is out of compliance on one or more Standards • Institution provides formal response

  8. TYPICAL COMMISSION ACTIONS • Reaffirm accrediation • Commend instituion • Request progress letter • Request monitoring report • Place institution on warning

  9. COMMISSION ACTIONS 2009 • 41 self studies reviewed • 40 affirmed; 1 postponed • 10 commended • 12 progress letters (30%) • 15 monitoring reports (38%)
