  5. Duck River Water Supply Project • Located east of Lake Catoma and north of Highway 278 in Cullman County • Create a 640 acre reservoir • Full pool storage of 26,000 acre-ft

  6. Duck River Water Supply Project • Duck River Watershed – 23,347 acres (36.5 square miles) • Dam, spillway, lake and buffers – 1,256 acres – 5.4% of the watershed

Major Components of the Duck River Dam Project • 1,925 foot long rock fill dam, 135 feet high designed to withstand the Maximum Credible Earthquake • Spillway in the east abutment designed for the Probable Maximum Flood • Water intake structure and pumping station • Raw water transmission main to the Cullman WTP (approximately 7 miles)

  9. Design & Construction Phases • Phase I – Water diversion conveyance, clearing & grubbing and dam foundation preparation • Phase II – Spillway, dam and water intake structure/pump station • Phase III – Pipeline from the water intake structure to the Cullman Water Treatment Plant

Design & Construction Schedule • Project is fully permitted • Funding is complete • Land acquisition and funding activities are underway • Phase I final design is being completed • Phase I Construction – Late 2011 • Phase II Construction – Winter 2012 • Phase III Construction – Spring 2013 • Project Completion & initiate reservoir filling – Summer 2015
