Definition • tundra is a biome where the tree growth is hindered by low temperatures and short growing seasons • It’s the coldest of of all biomes
Location • The tundra is located at the top of the world, near the North Pole. • Alaska, Northern Canada, edges of Greenland, Northern Scandinavia, northern Siberia, and Russia.
Temperature • Winter temperature doesn’t reach above 20 degrees and in the summer it doesn’t get above 37 degrees.
Rainfall/Snowfall • Usually less the 15 inches a year between snow and rain.
Vegatation • Artic moss • Arctic Willow • Bearberry • Caribou Moss • Diamond-leaf Willow • Labrador Tea • Pasque Flower • Tufted Saxifrage
Aniamls • Arctic Fox • Caribou • Ermine • Grizzly Bear • Harlequin Duck • Musk Ox • Polar Bear • Snowy Owl
