  1. John 6:35-40 “And Jesus said to them, ‘I am the bread of life. He who comes to Me shall never hunger, and he who believes in Me shall never thirst. But I said to you that you have seen Me and yet do not believe. All that the Father gives Me will come to Me, and the one who comes to Me I will by no means cast out. For I have come down from heaven, not to do My own will…”

  2. John 6:35-40 “... but the will of Him who sent Me. This is the will of the Father who sent Me, that of all He has given Me I should lose nothing, but should raise it up at the last day. And this is the will of Him who sent Me, that everyone who sees the Son and believes in Him may have everlasting life; and I will raise him up at the last day’” (NKJV).

  3. “Everyone Who Sees the Son”(John 6:40) I. “Everyone Who Sees the Son” A. How do we “see the Son”? (John 20:25-31) B. We can “look unto Jesus” by considering His life (Hebrews 12:1-3). C. We see Jesus by considering who He is (Hebrews 2:5-9). D. What did Jesus say when some wished to see Him? (John 12:20-26).

  4. “Everyone Who Sees the Son”(John 6:40) II. “And Believes In Him” A. This cannot mean faith alone. B. Some say that eternal life comes by faith alone (Ephesians 2:4-10; I Thessalonians 1:2-3; John 6:28,29).

  5. Things That Accompany Faith • Confession (Romans 10:5-11). • Repentance (Acts 11:15-18). • Baptism (Mark 16:16). • Faithfulness (Hebrews 3:12-14).

  6. “Everyone Who Sees the Son”(John 6:40) II. “And Believes In Him” A. This cannot mean faith alone. B. Some say that eternal life comes by faith alone (Ephesians 2:4-10; I Thessalonians 1:2-3; John 6:28,29). C. This “faith only” doctrine grew out of a “works only” environment. D. Only one Scripture uses the phrase “faith only”—(James 2:14-24).

  7. “Everyone Who Sees the Son”(John 6:40) III. “May Have Eternal Life” A. This is a conditional statement.

  8. Subjunctive Mood “The subjunctive mood is the mood of mild contingency; the mood of probability. While the indicative is assumes reality, the subjunctive assumes unreality. It is the first step away from what is actual in the direction of what is only conceivable, and, therefore, properly leads the list of potential moods” (Dana & Mantey in their Manual Grammar of the Greek New Testament, p. 170).

  9. “Everyone Who Sees the Son”(John 6:40) III. “May Have Eternal Life” A. This is a conditional statement. • What is the conditional about this? (Acts 10:34,35). B. Eternal life. All have an eternal spirit (Ecclesiastes 12:7).

  10. “Everyone Who Sees the Son”(John 6:40) IV. “And I Will Raise Him Up At the Last Day” A. All will be raised (John 5:25; Acts 24:15). B. There will be a “Last Day” (Heb. 9:27-28). C. This “raising up” and granting “eternal life” is done by Jesus.
