Nutmeg Cake A Favorite Recipe From The Farmer’s Cottage at The Norlands
Ingredients • 1 Cup Sugar • ½ Cup Melted Lard • 1 Egg • 1 Cup Sour Milk • 2 Cups Flour • 1 Tsp. Saleratus (Baking Soda) • 1 Tsp. Salt • 1 Tsp. Nutmeg
Directions Cream sugar and lard. Add egg and beat.
Directions Continued… Blend in dry ingredients Alternating with sour milk.
My Favorite Part! Adding Nutmeg
Bake In a moderate oven (350°) until done. About 30 minutes.
Add Room Temperature Cream to Butter Churn and Mix Until it Thickens. This might take awhile…
