Curtailment Program Goals • Protect public health by keeping PM2.5 values below the standard • Call as few curtailments as possible and still protect the public health • Encourage replacement of un-certified stoves by use of 2 levels of curtailment
Conclusions • A two stage curtailment program could work with trigger values of 20 & 30 • Not all values above 20 will trigger a curtailment • 5 to 9 curtailments a season, 2 to 5 days long
Next Steps • Draft regulation will go out for Public Comment. • Back for Board in September for adoption before the start of the heating season.
Next Two Heating Seasons • Track effectiveness of the curtailments • Track ability to forecast and call curtailments • Make improvements as necessary. • Determine the feasibility of continuing a two stage curtailment program
