The American Clearinghouse on Educational Facilities How to Create an Interactive Floor Plan (IFP) The lesson will demonstrate the usefulness of an Interactive Floor Plan (IFP) to public schools and educational institutions.  Through the lesson school officials will become aware of local information that can be used to create an IFP.  Step by step instructions will instruct participants to use common office operating systems, such as Microsoft Office and PowerPoint, to design locally created IFPs.  By completing the lesson, school officials will develop a new locally created resource to manage school facility safety and security.  http://www.acefacilities.org/Resource.aspx?page=cfe26686-3417-4401-a007-0e0bc3a08811

Where did the interactive floor plan come from? • Not a new tool. • Several versions around by private contract • Are being used around the world to enhance security and for private sector businesses • Similar system being utilized by our county Sherriff and local Police Department • Was a special assignment which lasted several months. • Used by assisting agencies to respond to campus provide them with details not already known

  7. Click on the second floor which brings up the floor plan for only the second floor.

  8. Room A258 shown below To return to the home screen, click on the home button located at the bottom right corner of the screen.

  9. To create the links, insert a floor plan in “.jpg” format on a blank page in Power Point. Click on insert, then shapes, and then select the blank action button.

  10. You would then highlight the area for the action button which will bring up the action settings screen. Select hyperlink to and then choose slide. This will bring up another screen (hyperlink to slide), and then select the slide number where the still photo is located that you want displayed and then select ok to complete the hyperlink.

  11. Right click on the shaded hyperlink you just created and select format shape. Under fill make the transparency 100%.

  12. Then select line color and make the transparency 100%. Once this is complete select close. This allows you to be able to see the floor plan and still have a hyperlink to a still photo.
