Introduction: Why LCN? • Before LCN, access to GSMP was unequal • Language barriers • Geography/Time Zone barriers • Culture/MO perspective neglected • Local Requirements/Impediments remained unknown • Member Organizations could not keep up…could not communicate uniformly • LCN allows its members to • “Think Globally, Act Locally!”

How LCN Provides Value to an MO • Advantages from an MO perspective • More integration of national working groups in GSMP process • Avoiding the disconnect between GSMP and national work • Bringing users, who are interested, but do not have time & travel resources • engagement on national, European and global level is a challenge • More credibility for GSMP • GS1 Germany serving as “service provider” for user companies
How LCN Provides Value to an MO • How we did it…. • Integration of existing working groups and explaining to them the advantages and possibilities • Having GS1 Germany experts within the GSMP process • Regular monthly telephone conferences and information to LCN members • Updates within the regular physical meetings of these groups
How LCN Provides Value to an MO • How we did it…. • Currently 50 members from • Our EAN-steering group • eBusiness expert group • AutoID expert group • Master Data experts from SA2 user group • Out of this 10-15 active members participating in the voting
How LCN Provides Value to an MO • Success Factors • Involvement of the LCN members into the GSMP work: • Not only feedback-questions, also updates and background information on current developments • Feedback from BRGs and integration of LCN position into BRG work • Supporting Change Requests and Requirements from our community • Having a real voice within the process, otherwise LCN members will loose interest and credibility of GSMP will decrease • GSMP LCN must be a lively process!Meaning information, feedback from BRG discussion, feedback questions etc.
How LCN Provides Value to an MO • Outlook for the future • Global: • More interaction between GSMP and LCN & among LCNs • Stronger voice of LCN • More countries to join • Physical LCN members meets BRG meeting during the GSMP & JAG joint event in October
