What is the Network? • The network is a professional interest group comprising local government sector staff and councillors who have responsibility for and/or an interest in community grantmaking • The VLGA (Victorian Local Governance Association) and www.ourcommunity.com.au play a coordinating role
How was it developed? • Formed out of a Grant Making conference in Canberra in 2004 • The Power of Lunch! • VLGA review of grantmaking recommended the development of a network
What does the Network do? • Shares information and promotes discussions between local councils • Identifies common issues across councils • Promotes best practice in the field of community grantmaking
The Network so far… • Grantmaking as a Community Strengthening Process • Making Community Grants More Accessible to CALD Communities • Risk Management - Ensuring accountability while getting the most from your grant
