Documents on the table... • There are two documents you are welcome to take – writing checklist and reading prompts – please help yourself to these • You may look at the example SATs papers and the cgp study guides but please do not take any of these away with you!
Year 2 assessment Welcome! Throughout the session, jot any questions on sticky notes and I will do my best to answer them
Aims of the session • To share important information regarding assessment and reporting arrangements for the end of key stage 1 • To answer any questions you might have • Discuss how you as a parent can support your child at home
End of year/key stage 1 assessments • Working towards the expected standard for year 2 • Working at the expected standard for year 2 • Working at greater depth within the expected standard for year 2
How will this be decided? • Teacher assessments (evidence in books/lessons, teacher records, interim teacher assessment frameworks, sats papers, internal and external moderation with other schools) • SATs – throughout may • moderation from the local authority
SATs • Reading paper 1 • Reading paper 2 • Maths paper 1 – arithmetic • Maths paper 2 – reasoning • spag – spelling, punctuation and grammar (optional) • No test for writing – moderation exercise • Scaled scores
HOW TO SUPPORT • GETTING A GOOD SLEEP ON SCHOOL NIGHTS! • Supporting homework – TT Rockstars, Mathletics, SPAG.com, spelling shed • Readand question (see prompt sheet for question stems) • Read with pace (90 words per min) • Practise writing using the checklist • Number facts/fluency • Challenge your child – making mistakes grows our brains! • Encourage independence!
