Our Day At School Mrs. Wilkins’ and Ms. Ingram’s Class Of 2001
Morning Routines • Students arrive and prepare for the day. Homework is turned in each morning and an early morning assignment awaits them.
Reading Students work in groups reading and questioning each other. Literature groups meet each Tuesday.
Science • The children are currently studying weather and looking forward to a visit from John Cesserich from News Channel Four.
Daily Read Aloud • During this time, I read to the children and then they read a book of their choice. Those students that are interested also use this time to take a point book test. Encourage your child to take advantage of this program! Look for point books in the library.
Lunch Is Served • Feel free to join us for lunch any day. • Meet us in the cafeteria at 11:10. • Menus are sent home monthly to help you plan. • Pay by the day, week or month.
Well Deserved Free Time • Max and Jesse completed their assignments and found time to design with pattern blocks.
Time to Write • Writing is modeled for the children. Next, the children write in their journals and time is allowed for the children to share their work. Illustrations are encouraged!
Writing • Lilly writes a great letter to a classmate. • Joshua and L.J. mail letters to a friend using the school postal system. • Passing notes has come a long way!
Recess – Time to Move and climb real high!
Time to Choose Taylor and Max make chains from grass. It’s really hot in August! Brooke and others play a silly game from a story we read!
Related Arts • This block of time is different each day. The children visit the computer lab twice during the week. Music, physical education and art are once a week. The library is opened daily for those that need a good book or want to take a book test!
Math • Math includes daily practice, lessons and time for group games to practice the many skills.
